GIGI CRUZ

The Lullaby House is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that assists youth who have experienced abuse, neglect, or homelessness and provides licensed residential maternity home for pregnant/parenting teen moms and their babies (https://lullabyhouses.org).  Having survived the challenge of teen pregnancy in her family, Marife searched on how she could help other moms who would face such a problem like hers.   Thus, with no hesitation, Inday said yes to PCCI's invitation to be one of the 2023 Charity Lead Fundraisers.

"Trust in God and an open heart to help."  Such is Marife Cabaya.

Like all first generation immigrants fending on their own, life in the US was not easy for Gigi, especially after being the boss back home.  But challenge after challenge she took on.  And this never stopped her from offering help to anyone who needed it.  Thus, when requested by PCCI, Gigi was very open to becoming one of the 2023 Charity Lead Fundraisers.  To Gigi's mind, a lot of people needed her help and she always extends a hand to those in need.  Gigi's charity beneficiary is PCCI's Charities, consisting of the Community Development Center Fund; the Education Program that consists of a local and a Philippine component; the Medical Outreach and Medical Mission; and Disaster Relief.  PCCI received its 501(c)(3) charity designation from the IRS in 1991.  And it has been active since, having just conducted this year its 27th annual Academic Achievement and Community Service Awards Program for North Texas high school graduates of Filipino descent and its 25th annual Health Fair for North Texas.  For more information, please visit pccintx-international.org.
Gigi believes that all of us working together can create impactful changes that this world needs!

Her formal name is Violeta Cruz.  But true to her modest and down-to-earth  personality, she insists to be known and addressed simply as Gigi. Gigi is the eldest of  four daughters of Tagumpay and Conchita Isles.  She was born in Caloocan and grew up in Malabon.

Gigi went to La Consolacion Catholic school and thereafter to San Sebastian College to pursue a degree in Business Management.  This schooling was put to good use in their metal crafts family business.  Gigi's business experience and her degree were not only used back home; but, here as well in her position as the Dallas Branch Manager of LBC Cargo, one of the prominent shipping companies in the Philippines.

Gigi has four children and eight, soon to be nine, grandchildren, whom she finds time to take care of and dote on.  In addition to this, Gigi squeezes in a game or two of badminton on weekends.  She was, afterall, a very good tennis player back in the Philippines.

"A journey of a thousand leagues begins with a single step."  To Gigi, "even the longest and most difficult ventures have a starting point. . .it begins with one first step.  No matter how difficult, the first step is to finish a task".
